The 2016 Dartmoor Geocoin has started and it is great to see several new names in this year’s race. However, we are missing some regulars, including some who have done very well in previous races and I appear to have only 19 entrants so far.
It is certainly not too late to enter – last year the Dartmoor Striders didn’t start until very late and they came 3rd – it is just the luck of the draw.
However, to win you need to activate your geocoin and place it in a cache and several haven’t done this yet. Please can you activate your geocoins and place them in a cache as soon as possible. Please do not give them to another cacher to take somewhere.
Some useful hints and tips:
- Physically label your geocoin to say that it is in a race and needs to be moved as far as possible.
- Give as much information about the race on the geocoin description page as possible.
- Don’t let cachers keep dipping your coin unless they are going long distances – coins need to be placed in a cache so that they can be moved on.
- If a cacher hasn’t placed your coin within a few days email them and ask them to do so.
- Watch any cache your coin is placed in and ensure that the next visitor logs it as retrieved. If they don’t ask them if the coin was in the cache.
