There are some circumstances where I don’t log a DNF when I’ve searched and can’t find it. Basically I’m very aware that CO’s use DNF logs to decide whether to swing by and check on it. Also, some people won’t try a cache if the last log is a DNF, so I don’t want to put them off.

I only skip a DNF log when it’s clearly my own fault that I cant find it.. i.e. Trying to cache in the dark with no torch, or if my gpsr battery runs out and I’m trying to do it by the “I’m sure it’s around here somewhere” tactic.

I have logged a couple of nanos where I’ve not signed the log because I can’t get it open, but both times have ensured I have a photo of the cache in hand for proof AND tell the CO in the log.
